We are situated in the stomach of Karl:
At this very place, as part of the summer exhibition of the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe, Frau Freitag took place for the first time last year; a project showing a wide range of positions in performance art.
In this year, Frau Freitag will open her space with an interpretation of a piece by Christian Kesten, whose artistic interest lays in the “In-between”.
This year´s Frau Freitag is “In-between” as well.
We are experimenting with new spaces and strategies of spatial appropriation. We use the Academy of Fine Arts as starting point to extend the radius and invade places in the city. In various laboratory settings we will enable communication without any kind of pressures from the art producers side.
Invited are among others Alice de Visscher, Doris Weinberger, Boris Nieslony and architect Markus Grob. A group of performers will orbit the exhibition of Marianne Wex at the Badischer Kunstverein.
The following call for applications shall open Frau Freitag for interested people.
Students, artists and interested people are invited to apply for Frau Freitag! Applicants will be chosen to show their work and take part in the laboratory.

What we can offer:
• photographic documentation
The performers agree through their participation that photographs taken of them can be published through different media in connection with Frau Freitag.
• our blog will record the progress of the platform. Further information on the program can be found here soon.
• a café offering food for free to all participants will be organized by Maria Tackmann, student of the Academy
• free accomodation is offered by students of the Academy
• space for developing approaches and ideas, for discussing the shown positions and for people who are interested in each other

• your portfolio or a short introduction
• title and duration (max. 20 min.) or a rough idea of the proposed work in writing (can be done in keywords) Applicants without a particular work suggestion for Frau Freitag are welcome as well if they have joy in experiments.

Unfortunately the participants cannot be paid for their efforts. The cost of travel, material and beverages have to be paid by the participants themselves, but we are happy to help in finding the cheapest way to travel to Karlsruhe.
